Corvinus Gellért Campus

Gellért Campus has become an integral part of the cityscape, with its open spaces and green areas harmonizing with the natural environment of Gellért Hill, while being located in close proximity to the university.

The primary goal of the development was to create a future-oriented new campus for the university—comprising innovative and inspiring spaces that stand out in Hungary. The campus development was overseen by the Maecenas Universitatis Corvini Foundation, which maintains the building. The vision for the content of the development was shaped through a process of community planning.

When designing the building, the most important consideration was to preserve its educational and dormitory functions. The aim of the owner and commissioning foundation was to create a modern, comfortable university space suitable for community life, which supports creative collaboration through innovative solutions. Scandinavian examples served as inspiration for the design of the communal areas.

The development consisted of two main components: the content planning was led by the university’s Ménesi Campus Development – Inner World Project. Students, faculty, researchers, and colleagues responsible for the university’s strategic and operational tasks all took part in the planning process—ensuring that the needs and perspectives of the future users of the building were taken into account. The project team was also supported by a group of external experts. The architectural development implemented the ideas envisioned by the Inner World Project in practice.
