Sustainability

As a big company specialising in main contracting and general construction, we constantly keep pace with international trends; we focus on environmentally conscious and design & build approaches, applying the latest innovations in our activities.

Throughout our development, we have always considered it important to maintain professional standards, respect our employees, provide a safe working environment and assume responsibility for the environment. We believe that our work can contribute to the quality of life of society and people, which is why we are consciously preparing for the challenges of the future: we have identified the climate risks specific to our industry and designated the areas where our developments can bring about real change.

2025

We are continuously and proportionally fulfilling the main objective of our sustainability strategy planned for the end of 2025 – that we love to build and, just like our buildings, we want to place our company on stable, sustainable foundations – keeping in mind our three priorities: climate protection, attracting and retaining talent, and responsible corporate governance.

2026-tól életbe lép vállalatunk második, ötéves időszakra szóló fenntarthatósági stratégiája, amelynek középpontjában a környezetvédelem áll. Az új stratégia már figyelembe veszi az első időszak tapasztalatait, és célzottan orvosolja a korábbi, kezdeti időszakra jellemző hiányosságokat. Céljaink meghatározása szoros összhangban történt a csoportszintű üzleti stratégiával, biztosítva a fenntarthatósági szempontok integrálását a vállalati működés valamennyi területén.

We don’t just plan, we deliver – here’s proof that our strategy works.

As a player in the construction industry, we know that our operations have a significant impact on the environment, so we pay special attention to reducing carbon emissions, using resources responsibly and protecting biodiversity. Our sustainability strategy covers our entire value chain, and we think in terms of long-term solutions.

LEAN methodology in construction

By applying the LEAN approach, we aim to minimise waste: we implement our projects with less material, time and energy consumption. This approach not only results in more efficient operations, but also significantly reduces our environmental impact.

Tree planting programme – more green, less emissions

As a responsible player in the construction industry, we double the planned amount of trees in all our projects at our own expense. This not only supports biodiversity, but also contributes to improving the local microclimate.

Renewable energy in our own facilities

We installed solar panels on the roofs of the Market 6.0 headquarters and the PREbeton manufacturing plant, thereby reducing the carbon footprint of our energy consumption. We have begun expanding the system at PREbeton.

BIM management for conscious design

With our digital BIM (Building Information Modelling) solutions, we support data-driven, efficient and well-thought-out design, which increases resource efficiency.

A key objective for the Market Group is to create value for its colleagues, partners and future generations – that is why we support the development of our employees, help young talents with a mentoring programme and are actively involved in social issues. The flagship of our CSR activities is the ROM Vándor (Ruin Rover) programme, which raises awareness of the preservation of our built heritage and the rediscovery of community values.

Corporate Social Responsibility

We spend 0.1% of our annual revenue directly on CSR activities – a remarkable proportion in the construction industry. We believe that, alongside our business results, we must also take responsibility for our social impact.

Committed to occupational safety

We provide online and in-person occupational safety training for all our employees, while applying strict regulations during our construction projects. For us, safety is not an expectation – it is a fundamental principle.

Strategic partnerships for the common good

We have established long-term partnerships with organisations that bring about real change: we support the work of Bátor Tábor (Brave Camp), the Mosoly (Smile) Foundation and the Magyar Ökumenikus Segélyszervezet (Hungarian Interchurch Aid) with financial and volunteer support.

Tudásépítő-Team Sectoral Training Centre

By establishing the Tudásépítő-Team training centre, we actively contribute to the supply of skilled labour. It is important to us that the future of the construction industry is shaped by young people who are well-prepared and have hands-on knowledge.

The Market Group’s operations are based on transparency, ethical business conduct and legal compliance. We build our responsible procurement practices on our domestic partners, while through our Partner Programme we work with more than a hundred subcontractors to develop the entire industry. We not only enforce sustainability requirements within our own organisation, but also consciously promote them among our suppliers and partners.

Executive-level commitment to sustainability

Sustainability goals are implemented at a strategic level, under the guidance of the executive top management. ESG officers appointed in each field of expertise work to ensure that the company's operations are in line with environmental, social and ethical expectations.

Partner Programme – joint development in the supply chain

We work with more than 120 subcontractors as part of our Partner Programme, which aims to raise awareness, promote sustainable operations and increase efficiency in the industry. We regularly organise training courses and professional events for our partners.

Transparency and accountability

We publish our group-level sustainability reports after they have been audited by an independent third party. This ensures that our activities are credible, transparent and objectively assessable.

Code of Ethics – value-based operation

Our group-level code of ethics serves as a compass for everyday decision-making, ensuring responsible, transparent and principled operations. Our decisions are guided by the intention to do good and do well.
