One of Hungary’s most modern sports complexes has been constructed in the city of Szeged: an 8,000-seat, UEFA Category 4 stadium serving both senior and youth teams. The facility includes three hybrid, heated training pitches, state-of-the-art service units and a refurbished sports hostel, offering exceptional conditions for athletes and supporters alike. The large-scale investment was executed by Market Építő Zrt. on behalf of the Diocese of Szeged-Csanád.

Adjacent to the stadium, a regulation-size handball arena, three tennis courts, a shade-canopied small football pitch, children’s and adult playgrounds, open-air stages and modern changing facilities have also been built. A projekt része volt a Napfény Kempinghez tartozó, 45 szobás, 90 férőhelyes szállóépület teljes körű felújítása is. The project also included the complete renovation of the 45-room, 90-bed hostel belonging to the Napfény Campsite. The construction project is distinguished by its impressive technical achievements. A total of 762 piles with a combined length of 10,000 linear metres were installed for the foundations. Earthworks involved excavating 4,900 m³ of soil, of which 3,011 m³ was reused as backfill. From the 3,500 m³ of crushed concrete generated during demolition, all material was recycled and incorporated into the project. The roof’s steel structure weighs nearly 1,000 tonnes and is made up of components fixed together with 25,000 bolts. The 5,978 precast concrete elements contain 3,510 m³ of concrete – 9,673 tonnes in total – reinforced with 671 tonnes of steel. The monolithic reinforced concrete structure required a further 3,800 m³ of concrete and 300 tonnes of steel.

Construction works relied on 3 tower cranes, 5 mobile cranes, 3 telehandlers and 8 lifts. The tower cranes operated for 6,020 hours, while mobile cranes logged 2,310 hours. Remarkably, Hungary’s first pre-stressed column – weighing over 33 tonnes – was produced for this project.

Complying fully with UEFA’s stringent requirements, the stadium is suitable for hosting international matches as well as Champions League and Europa League qualifying fixtures.
