Régiposta Street McDonald’s Restaurant

The refurbishment of the McDonald’s restaurant on Régiposta Street represents a truly unique project on a global scale, blending the brand’s iconic identity with premium interior design solutions. Completed to mark the 35th anniversary of McDonald’s presence in Hungary, the renovation was executed by Market Építő Zrt. within an exceptionally short period of just four months. The interior of the restaurant is dominated by black and gold colours, which radiate elegance and luxury, enhancing the atmosphere of the space.

One of the most striking elements of the interior works was the use of genuine exposed-concrete walls. The concrete panels, each weighing up to 300 kilograms, presented a particular technical challenge during installation. The McCafé area features natural wooden wall and floor panelling, while the rest of the restaurant is finished with meticulously cast, polished Terrazzo flooring, lending the interior a sense of individuality and refined modernity.

The interior concept was jointly developed by the Australian design studio Landini and Hungarian interior designer Géza Sass. The solid timber and granite tables, along with the cladding on the counter fronts, echo the restaurant’s elegant stone exterior. Uniqueness appears not only in the choice of materials but also in the lighting solutions: the copper lamp shades and the copper-clad elements on the suspended ceiling and columns provide features rarely seen even in McDonald’s restaurants worldwide at the time of redevelopment.

The space is further enhanced by distinctive wall graphics created by the Hungarian team Graphasel Design Studio, depicting well-known Budapest landmarks, including buildings in the immediate vicinity. An exceptional design feature –  an elevated seating pod positioned at the corner of Régiposta and Aranykéz Streets – is something found in only one or two McDonald’s restaurants internationally, adding yet another layer of exclusivity to the atmosphere.
