The 20-year lease agreement between Budapest Airport Zrt. and DHL Express demonstrates the long-term commitment of the DHL Deutsche Post Group to Hungary and the development of the capital’s airport. The new logistics centre, covering more than 13,000 square metres and located directly adjacent to Terminal 1, was built by Market Építő Zrt. Continuing our previous cooperation with DHL, we once again implemented the investment to a high technical standard.
The building houses a 6,000 square metre logistics hall, a 2,400 square metre office wing and a 4,500 square metre service and work area. Throughout the construction process, special emphasis was placed on functionality, energy efficiency, and sustainability, as well as on the integration of state-of-the-art technological systems. The new facility employs approximately 300 people, with its operations centred around an automated parcel-sorting system capable of processing up to 6,000 parcels per hour.
The new logistics centre not only takes DHL Express’s domestic operations to a new level, but also has a significant economic and employment impact: Liszt Ferenc International Airport is one of the largest job creators in the southern Pest region, employing more than 10,000 people within 70 companies and organisations. The DHL Express airport centre is one of the largest domestic express logistics investments in recent years, with a value of more than EUR 25 million. The project is considered an exemplary development not only in Hungary but also in the Central European region, in which Market Építő Zrt. has once again demonstrated its professional competence, reliability and commitment to the implementation of modern industrial facilities as a general contractor.
