CATL Factory

Market Építő Zrt. was awarded the contract for the structural construction works for the central production hall of Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited (CATL) in Debrecen. The Chinese-owned company is the world’s largest battery manufacturer, so the investment is of major importance not only from an industrial but also from an economic point of view, as the project will create 9,000 new jobs in the region.

The part of the building constructed by us has a multi-storey design with overall dimensions of 500 x 160 meters and a floor area of almost 80,000 square meters, with its highest point reaching 27 meters. The contracts awarded covered the full portfolio of the Market Group. These included static earthworks (OKM Kft.), construction of monolithic reinforced concrete structures (Moratus Kft.), lightning protection electrical works (Vilati Szerelő Zrt.), and steel structure installation was also provided by the Group. The largest part of the works involved the manufacture and erection of prefabricated reinforced concrete structures, which was completed by PREbeton Zrt., with the manufacture and installation of 30 per cent of the prefabricated structures.

During the project, MCM Beton Kft. also set up a mobile concrete mixing plant on-site, which facilitated meeting the concrete needs for pile foundation and monolithic reinforced concrete structure construction works on an ongoing basis. The success of the construction project was facilitated by Market’s decades of experience, its prepared staff of experts, the capacities provided by its network of subsidiaries, and the knowledge gained from previous successful projects with foreign investors.
