Under commission from Semcorp Hungary Kft., the European subsidiary of Shanghai‑based Yunnan Energy New Material Co. Ltd., Market Építő Zrt. delivered the company’s first European manufacturing facility in the southern industrial zone of Debrecen. The construction of the 97,000 m² manufacturing complex started in August 2021, and production was originally scheduled for the first quarter of 2023, but trial production finally started in mid-2025.

The Debrecen plant was equipped with production lines capable of manufacturing roughly 400 million square metres of Lithium-ion separator film annually. The facility’s design and technological infrastructure aimed to deliver a world‑class manufacturing environment, with particular attention to cleanrooms, precision machine foundations, and integration of high‑level mechanical and technological systems. The hall features large‑span steel structures and specialised overhead cranes, while the building blocks include a comprehensive fire‑protection and sprinkler system.

The construction was accompanied by major preparatory works, such as ammunition disposal, archaeological excavation and other infrastructure improvements, which allowed for a smooth and scheduled construction.

During the construction phase, some 460 local professionals were employed on site, reaching a peak of 800 people. The construction work focused on the organisation of the space in line with industrial production, the optimisation of the floor plan to serve the production processes and the development of the technical infrastructure required for sustainable operation.
