The investment of Krones AG’s machine manufacturing plant in Debrecen is the first production base of the German company in Hungary and the second in Europe. Based in Neutraubling, Germany, Krones AG is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of beverage filling and packaging technology and process technology equipment, and complements its product portfolio with IT solutions, factory design and proprietary valves. The Group employs around 16,000 people worldwide and generates 90 percent of its annual turnover from exports.

Choosing the right location was a strategic step in expanding the company’s international production capacity. After a lengthy analysis, Debrecen proved to be the most suitable location: the city has excellent logistical connections, modern infrastructure and a high level of professional training, making it an ideal base for the construction of the new plant.

The general contractor for the project was Market Építő Zrt., which built the 40,000 m² production plant and associated administrative buildings on a 150,000 m² greenfield site. The works started in summer 2018 and the whole project was completed in mid-2019, progressing at a steady pace. Market provided the full construction services for the development, from the architectural and structural works to the mechanical, electrical and infrastructure phases. High industrial precision was a key factor in the design and construction of the facility, as the hall would be used to manufacture equipment that requires a high degree of technological precision in the structural and mechanical design of the building.

For Market Építő Zrt., this project represented another important milestone in the execution of industrial investments with an international background, while contributing to the development of the domestic economy, raising technological standards and creating new jobs.
