The DVTK Stadium, inaugurated in May 2018, is one of the key projects in the renewal of the sports infrastructure in Diósgyőr, which was created with simplicity, structural openness and rationality in mind. Reflecting the scenery of the Bükk Mountains and the industrial heritage of Miskolc, the building attracts attention not for its monumentality but for its honest, understated elegance. The sports facility was designed with a focus on a clean form and a harmonious relationship with its surroundings.
The centre has a 15,000-seat grandstand with vandal-proof seating and 4,617 square metres of useful floor area. The reinforced concrete grandstands can be approached from three main directions. The pitch complies in all respects with UEFA IV and MLSZ A-category infrastructure standards; it is heated and equipped with automatic sprinklers.
The training centre is a multifunctional space, not only for sports but also for events, cultural and leisure activities, and is an important community space for the city and the region.
The architectural character is created by a striking roof structure in the shape of a silver chalice, which gives a floating effect thanks to the cladding of expanded metal sheeting. The mass of the stadium is thus divided into two distinct, dynamic elements: the stands and the roof, which are made visually light by shadow joints.
The interiors are also designed for a high level of usability, with 9-9 men’s and women’s toilets and 520 VIP seats in the supporters’ area. The athletes’ area includes four large team dressing rooms for 25 people, dressing rooms for referees and a medical room. A media level, a press conference room, a mixed zone and 48 media stands are available for the media.
The DVTK Stadium has also won international recognition: it was ranked in the top 10 in a competition by the Polish website Stadium Database as one of the most beautiful stadiums opened in Europe in 2018.
